This challenge is for anyone
Whether you’re walking in memory of a loved one you have lost, you’ve been a donor before, or you purely want to bring hope to patients and families, then you’re a lifesaver. That’s because by taking part, your fundraising efforts will help us to continue our work.
What is the challenge?
We’re asking you to join our Lifesaver Walk, take on some miles, and raise money to fund vital treatments and research into blood cancers and disorders. You choose your route and the miles you want to cover.
Want some suggestions? Here are some distances to consider:
- 1-2km if you have younger children joining or if you want a shorter walk
- 5km if you aren’t a walker but want to stretch your legs
- 10km+ if you want to challenge yourself
Choose a distance that suits you and your ability.

FAQs
When is the Lifesaver Walk?
Take part at any point during the 15th-21st September and unite with other people across the country who are walking to save lives.
We'd like as many people as possible to take part on Saturday 20th September - which is also World Bone Marrow Donor Day - but you can walk any day that week.
If you can't join us this week we'd still love for you to get involved. Check out our Events webpage or reach out to our team on community@anthonynolan.org
Who can take part?
Anyone! You can walk by yourself, with your family and friends, or organise your community to take part.
On signing up, you'll automatically get a fundraising page for your walk. We’ll send you a free Anthony Nolan t-shirt and “I’m walking for” labels in the post so you can show everyone you’re part of the Lifesaver Walk.
What impact will you have?
It costs £40 to recruit a potential stem cell donor to the register. Every person added to the register could mean a match for a patient, which offers them a second chance at life. Read more about where money donated to Anthony Nolan goes.
How do I get my free T-shirt?
We'll send you your exclusive cotton Anthony Nolan T-shirt and 'i'm walking for' t-shirt sign to wear while you complete the challenge. It can take up to 10 working days for your T-shirt to reach you after you sign up, but please email us on community@anthonynolan.org if it doesn’t arrive.
If you manage to raise £200, we’ll send you an Anthony Nolan drawstring bag. Please note that if you're fundraising as part of a team, each group member will need to have raised £200 to be able to claim their bag.
