Help find a donor for Florence

5-year-old Florence was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in May. She urgently needed a stem cell transplant but sadly her big brother Freddie wasn’t a match. Her parents started doing everything they could to raise awareness so that more people join the stem cell register. Her mum, Stacey, told us:

“Your whole world just crashes when you’re given news like this. If Florence found a match, it would be everything. No child should ever have to go through something like this. I can’t even bear thinking about what will happen if she doesn’t find a donor. She’s our entire world. We need to find a donor, there’s no other option."

Florence found a match and had her stem cell transplant in August. Her family are now focussing on her recovery and sharing her journey.

If you’re aged 16-30 you can give children like Florence hope for a second chance of life by joining the stem cell register.

"Florence is the bravest person I’ve ever met in my entire life. When she got diagnosed, I was crying and she wiped away my tears and said, ‘Mummy, crying’s not going to do anything, we’ve just got to be brave.’ She’s amazing. She really is.

I’ll do anything to save her, but even if this doesn’t help Florence, we hope it will help someone else. We’re in hospital with another family whose little girl has the exact same diagnosis, and she needs to find a donor too. They’ve been a massive help to us, and we want to help them. We know our odds aren’t very good, but we’re going to fight for our kids.

So many people have been supporting our search for a donor. It's given us such a boost knowing how kind people are. You feel like you aren’t on your own.”
