You could give someone like Dolcie-Mae another chance to live.
Baby Dolcie-Mae is just a few months old, but already facing a huge challenge just to survive. The little girl was rushed from her home in Newport, Wales, to hospital when she was four weeks old and her family received the devastating news that she had hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). The diagnosis of this rare immune disorder has turned the family’s world upside down and doctors now say Dolcie-Mae needs an urgent stem cell transplant to save her life.
But so far, not a single matching donor can be found for Dolcie-Mae on stem cell registers around the world. Her family is calling on everyone who is eligible to sign up to the register while they search for someone who could save their little girl’s life. The more potential donors standing by to save lives, the more chances of finding a lifesaving match there are for every transplant patient like Dolcie-Mae.
Right now, the family are split between home in Wales and the hospital in Newcastle where Dolcie-Mae is being cared for with her mum Courtney staying by her side.
“No family should have to go through such an awful journey, watching their child fight a battle bigger than them.”
Courtney, Dolcie-Mae's mum
