Blood cancer patients urgently need your help. After a year of shielding, they don’t know if the current vaccines will protect them against COVID-19. Early research suggests just 13% of blood cancer patients show an antibody response three weeks after one dose of vaccine.

I’m so frightened for my health. It almost feels like the pandemic is never going to go away and that thought is really scary. Even with the vaccine, I won't feel safe. It feels like we’ve been left behind.

Fund urgent research – make sure all patients have a vaccine that works for them

By donating to our Vaccine Research Appeal, you could fund urgent research and enable the UK’s top haematologists to study blood samples from people with blood cancer, who have had one of the available COVID-19 vaccines. This will help determine the level of protection which vaccines provide to patients and make sure that there’s a vaccine that works for people with blood cancer.

Why patients need your support:

  • Blood cancer patients need an effective vaccine more than any other group, as their risk of dying from COVID-19 is higher than with any other condition.
  • Patients who are expected to return to work now face impossible decisions about how to keep safe while keeping their livelihood.
  • 74%* of patients we surveyed feel their wellbeing and mental health have deteriorated during the pandemic and are seriously worried that they are not protected against COVID-19.
