Where we are
The Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre is hosted within the Clinical Research Facility at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.
Both medicals and collections are performed in the same unit, and you will be greeted by a member of staff when you arrive at the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre Reception.

How to get here
Arriving by car:
The Queen’s Medical Centre is located on the Southwest side of Nottingham.
- From the M1 leave at Junction 25 and take the A52 (Brian Clough Way) towards the city centre
- At the roundabout go straight across and the entrance to the hospital will be on the right.
- There are several open-air car parks situated around the site, some of which are specifically for staff or Blue Badge holders only
- A park and ride can also be used. The closest one to the centre is Queens Drive Park & Ride – NG2 1AP. The Medilink 2 bus will take you to the main entrance of the Queens Medical Centre. This is a 10 minute journey with buses leaving every 10 minutes
Arriving by public transport:
If you are travelling by train the nearest station is Nottingham, and from there it is around 10 minutes by tram to reach Queens Medical Centre.
- Once you arrive at the station follow the signs to the trams
- You need to board the tram going towards Toton Lane (Bramcote Zone), they run every 7-10 minutes, and you need to get off at Queens Medical Centre which is 4 stops - please note you will need to buy a tram ticket before boarding from the machine on the platform or tap your contactless card as we are unable to book these in advance, we will reimburse you for these costs
- When you get off the tram head right towards the bridge connecting the Queens Medical Centre tram stop to the B Floor level of the hospital
- To travel back to Nottingham station, head back through the bridge to the tram stop and catch the tram going towards Hucknall
Navigating the hospital
From the main entrance:
- Head right following signs to Queen’s Medical Centre bridge not Treatment Centre
- You will enter Queens Medical Centre on the B floor, take the first right towards south block
- Follow the corridor to the end and turn right to take lift up to E Floor
- Exit the lifts by turning left and following the corridor and Anthony Nolan signage round until you see the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre and Clinical Research Facility on your left
- Inside the reception a member of our team will be waiting for you
From the tram bridge:
- Head right following signs to Queen’s Medical Centre bridge not Treatment Centre
- You will enter Queens Medical Centre on the B floor, take the first right towards south block
- Follow the corridor to the end and turn right to take lift up to E Floor
- Exit the lifts by turning left and following the corridor and Anthony Nolan signage round until you see the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre and Clinical Research Facility on your left
- Inside the reception a member of our team will be waiting for you
From the south block entrance:
- Enter south block (for exact google maps location, click here) and you will find yourself in the lift lobby, the walls will be green
- Take the lift to E floor
- Exit the lifts by turning left and following the corridor and Anthony Nolan signage round until you see the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre and Clinical Research Facility on your left
- Inside the reception a member of our team will be waiting for you

Lights meals, drinks and snack will be provided for you during your appointment at the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre. There are also a number of food outlets within Queen’s Medical Centre including:

Useful information
The unit is open plan and has a total of 6 beds. When you go for your medical and donation you will see a mix of other donors donating their live saving stem cells.
Pre-medical: Ensure you’re well hydrated and have eaten. You’ll be offered hot and cold beverages on the day and refreshments, if required.
Pre-collection (PBSC): Ensure you’re well hydrated 1-2 days prior. If you have any bone pain/headaches from the G-CSF injections, you can take pain relief. If you’re unsure what to take, please speak to your coordinator.
You’ll be offered hot and cold drinks on the day. Light refreshments are available on the unit, and a sandwich lunch will be provided by the hospital catering team. Any dietary requirements should be able to be accommodated.
Donors, patients and visitors can access free wifi by connecting to ‘NHS Free Wifi’ on their device.
