Aztec West

Welcome to Aztec West, located in Bristol, BS32. Here are some useful links and information about our centre.

Where we are

Aztec West, Therapeutic Apheresis Unit, 300 Park Avenue, Aztec West, Bristol, BS32 4SY 

When you arrive, at the door, push the intercom button and the door will be released for you to enter. Use the lift or stairs to the first floor and ring the doorbell to be let into the Unit. 

How to get there

Arriving by public transport

The nearest railway stations to Aztec West are Cribbs Causeway or Patchway station. They are both a bus journey away to the centre. 

  • From Cribbs Causeway: Take the M1 First bus towards Hengrove Park and exit at Aztec West roundabout and it is an approximate 9 min walk to the unit. The M1 First bus runs every 10-15 minutes 
  • From Patchway: The unit is an approximate 30 minute walk or taxi ride. Alternatively take the M1 or M4 bus. 

Arriving by car 

  • From the M5 Leave M5 at J16, at the roundabout take the exit towards Bradley Stoke and Filton At the Aztec West roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Park Avenue  
  • From the South Approach on the A38 Gloucester Road, at the Aztec West roundabout take the 1st exit onto Park Avenue At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Park Avenue  
  • Then… At the next roundabout take the 1st exit, continue on Park Avenue. Follow the road and you will see Genesis Care on the left. Take the left turn so that Genesis Care is now on your right. Enter the car park behind the building (second right turn) there will be plenty of parking spaces

You’ll find plenty of restaurants to choose from in the area including restaurants and café’s.  

Useful information

The unit has a total of 4 beds. When you go for your medical and donation you will see a mix of other donors as well as patients receiving treatment. 

Pre-medical: Ensure you’re well hydrated and have eaten.  

Pre-collection (PBSC): Ensure you’re well hydrated 1-2 days prior. If you have any bone pain/headaches from the G-CSF injections, you can take pain relief. If you’re unsure what to take, please speak to your coordinator.  

You’ll be offered hot and cold drinks/snacks on the day. Any dietary requirements should be able to be accommodated.   

If you require a central line for your donation, you will be transferred to Therapeutic apheresis service, Bristol Haematology Oncology Unit, Bristol Royal Infirmary.
