Over the next few weeks, thousands of people around the country will find out if they have received a ballot place in the Virgin Money London Marathon 2014. In the lead up to the event, we’ll be featuring supporters who are taking on the challenge for Anthony Nolan.

Karyna Conder, a Research Assistant from London, was inspired to join the Anthony Nolan team after the charity found a bone marrow donor for her best friend Emma who was diagnosed with leukaemia aged 19.

Karyna, 25, says, ‘Running a marathon has always been something that I want to do but I wanted it to mean more than just me. Running this marathon for Anthony Nolan means that the charity will be able to help more people like Emma.’

Karyna has been making the most of Anthony Nolan’s expert training tips and help with fundraising. She says, ‘So far, the support from Anthony Nolan has been incredible. They even called me on my birthday to see how I was getting on and wish me a happy birthday! They are really accessible and have become familiar names to me.’
The marathon is now seven months away and Karyna is already getting excited about the challenge ahead. She adds, ‘On the day of the marathon, I’m going to be feeling very nervous but I’ll also know that it’s an amazing achievement. Being able to give back to Anthony Nolan will make marathon day perfect – what a great way to thank them for saving my best friend.’
