Can I join the register if I have diabetes?
You can join the register if you have type 2 diabetes and it is diet controlled, but you cannot join if you are on anti-diabetic tablets or insulin injections. If you have type 1 diabetes you cannot join the register.
Can I join the register if I'm pregnant?
Donors who are currently pregnant may join the register, but cannot donate if any of the following apply:

If you are aged 31 or over you can join a different UK registry; you only need to join one register. The two other registers are NHS Blood and Transplant and DKMS
• NHS Blood and Transplant - If you're already a blood donor, or willing and eligible to give blood, you may be able to join the NHS stem cell register. Their email is customer.services@nhsbt.nhs.uk.
I want to be removed from the register
If you want to be removed from the Anthony Nolan register, you need to contact the Register Support team directly. You can email them at register.support@anthonynolan.org. Please clarify in your email what sort of removal you mean. Make sure to include your full name and date of birth in your email for identification purposes.
What address should I sign up with?
When signing up to join the Anthony Nolan stem cell register, you should use your current postal address. This is important because you will be sent a swab pack in the post.
Once you have done your swabs and joined the register, if you live at a university address that is temporary, you should update your address to your parents’ address, or one that is more permanent.
What do I need to know about joining the register?
Thinking of becoming a lifesaver? Here are a few things you should know:
- To apply to join the stem cell register, you need to fill our online form to request a swab pack. This will be posted to you, you complete and post back.
- Joining the register is easy and free.

- You’ll stay on the register and you can still donate until you turn 61.
