Jensen's story
In 2021, when Jensen was just seven, he was diagnosed with XLP1, an extremely rare type of cancer. He needed a stem cell transplant from a matching donor – a lifesaving connection.
His older brother was tested but sadly wasn’t a match for Jensen – then it was an anxious waiting game. Jensen’s first match fell through, and another was arranged. Thanks to Anthony Nolan, he finally got his new cells on 9 June 2022.
Now, three years on, he’s going from strength to strength. His mum, Beverley, says, ‘We are forever thankful for the kindness of his donor and the gift of life he’s given to Jensen.’

£12 per month could cover the cost of 80 cheek swab kits and postage to potential donors, in order to add more lifesavers to the stem cell register.
£15 per month could help our scientists conduct groundbreaking research, from increasing the success of stem cell transplants to supporting the development of pioneering cell and gene therapies.
£20 per month could add six new potential lifesavers to our register. This includes the cost of recruiting a donor, collecting their cheek swab, and analysing it to find out their tissue type.
