Richard was previously Director of Communications and Marketing at the charity.
The new division has been created by joining the Communications and Marketing Division with the Fundraising Division. The former Director of Fundraising, Catherine Miles, will join Breast Cancer Now on 6 June.
Richard has been responsible for leading the marketing, communications, policy and public affairs, and register development teams. In his new role as Director of Engagement, Richard has taken on additional responsibility for fundraising, including corporate partnerships, community fundraising and challenge events. The Engagement Division commenced operations on Monday 9 May.
Richard has worked at Anthony Nolan since July 2010, and previously worked as Director of Communications at Health Mandate, a communications consultancy, and as Director of Policy and Public Affairs at Cancer Research UK.
Richard said: “This is an exciting opportunity to bring our fundraising, communications and marketing work together and I am looking forward to working more closely with my colleagues across the organisation. This is a dynamic time for Anthony Nolan; this year we launched world-leading Third Generation Sequencing technology and our stem cell donor register continues to grow and diversify. I very much welcome the challenge of building on these achievements as Director of Engagement.”
Henny Braund, Chief Executive of Anthony Nolan, said: “We are delighted to appoint Richard as Director of Engagement at Anthony Nolan. Richard has done an incredible job of leading the Communications and Marketing Division and I know he will be just as effective as he takes on our fundraising work. Catherine Miles left us with a very firm foundation to build on and this is an exciting opportunity to integrate our supporter-facing work even further. By bringing these areas of work together we hope to achieve our goal of saving and improving the lives of people with blood cancer.”
