A sports manager from Nottingham is raising vital funds for us, 14 years after we saved his life with a bone marrow transplant.

Carl Travis has produced a track called ‘Life Is For Living', along with his friend and music producer Steve Hodgkinson (aka DJ Vimto), as well as alongside Mark Gamble, Educated Foolz and friend and vocalist Marcus Doherty.

The track was inspired by Carl's illness and subsequent recovery, and is due for official release on the 26th June 2014. All the proceeds will go to support our lifesaving work.

Carl's story

In 2000 Carl was diagnosed with lymphoma, and told his only chance of survival was if he received a bone marrow transplant. Fortunately, his brother Darren was a near perfect match, and within days Carl received the transplant he so desperately needed.

Now 14 years on Carl is now free of the cancer that once threatened his life. None of this would have been possible with the help of Anthony Nolan, so this is Carl’s way of saying thank you.

'My story could have been very different'

Carl says, “I am so excited about this track. I just want to share my story and this has always been a dream of mine to do it in a song. Thanks to my friend and music producer Steve that dream has come true.

I just hope people like the song and will support us by downloading the track once it is released on iTunes on 26th June 2014. I also want to make people see the importance of being on the bone marrow register and the lives that can be saved…If it wasn’t for my brother Darren my story could have been very different.”

Craig Wills, Community Coordinator at Anthony Nolan, said, ‘The fundraising that Carl Travis is doing makes such a big difference to people with blood cancer. It costs £100 to recruit each person to the Anthony Nolan register, so fundraising is a vital part of our lifesaving work. The more fundraising we do, the more potential donors we can recruit onto the bone marrow register, and the more lives we can save.’

Look out for the track on iTunes soon.
