On 9 March 2020 Talia’s family revealed that, following months of treatment, she had, unfortunately died.

 Sarah Rogers, Regional Register Development Manager at Anthony Nolan says: ‘I was extremely sad to hear that Talia had died after receiving treatment. Our thoughts and sympathies are with Talia’s family, partner and friends at this difficult time; we’re here to support them.

On Friday 11 October we marked 10 years of the groundbreaking partnership between the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) and Anthony Nolan.

To celebrate the landmark tenth anniversary, SFRS brought together donors, recipients, partnership volunteers and a host of other guests at a special event at its national headquarters in Cambuslang.

The event was supported by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who recorded a personal address.

Actor Tom Holland, who joined the Anthony Nolan stem cell donor register in 2012, has encouraged young people aged 16-30 to find out more about Anthony Nolan, and consider signing up to the charity’s register.

In a video shared on Instagram on his charity page, The Brothers Trust, the Spiderman actor says:

“I want to tell you something about something cool and amazing you can do today and it’s really easy. If you’re aged between 16 and 30 you can join the Anthony Nolan register.

A student from Hertfordshire is calling for more of his peers to sign up as stem cell donors with blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan, after being told that there is currently no one on register who is a perfect match for him.

Alex Haines, 21, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, a type of blood cancer, in 2017. The diagnosis came when he was just 19 and about to start the second year of his psychology degree at York University.

In 2016, at the age of 15, following a family holiday Sheena Shah became achy and lethargic. After losing her appetite Sheena was taken to see her family GP, who referred her for blood tests to rule out a virus.

The family of a 5-month-old baby with Wiskott – Aldrich Syndrome, the same immune system disorder Anthony Nolan was diagnosed with, are calling for more people to sign up as potential stem cell donors with blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan.

Daniel McAvoy, from Cambridgeshire, was diagnosed with Wiskott- Aldrich Syndrome after he became ill at three weeks old. His family have now been told that he will need a stem cell transplant if he is to be cured.

A young mum from Castlecroft, Wolverhampton is calling for more people to sign up as potential stem cell donors, with blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan, after being told that she desperately needs a stem cell transplant to cure her blood cancer.

Katie Wright, 25, is a mental health nursing student at the University of Wolverhampton, and was first diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma when she was 17 years old, after discovering a lump on her neck.

On Wednesday 17 July, NHS England published their May 2019 Prioritisation Decisions and approved allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplants for Primary Immunodeficiencies (PID).

Previously, allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplants for PID have only been available for children and have been made available for adult patients since early 2018 on a temporary basis whilst this review was undertaken.

A Dunfermline man who received a lifesaving saving stem cell transplant is competing as part of blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan’s team at the Westfield Health British Transplant Games in Newport, South Wales.
