Cult TV critic Charlie Brooker has recorded a short video in support of Anthony Nolan.

In the five minute video he highlights the need for young men aged between 18 and 30 to join the register, as they make the best donors. His support has garnered an unprecedented reaction – in the 24 hours since it was first posted, the video received over 17,000 hits. There have been 17,500 visits to the Anthony Nolan website, compared to a usual daily average of 1,000 hits, and 2134 people have joined the register online in the last two days, which is a typical month’s recruitment. Of those, 35% are young males aged 18-30.

Brooker pledged his support for Anthony Nolan after he learnt about Alice Pyne, the terminal leukaemia patient who has created a ‘bucket list’ of things she wants to do before she dies. The second item on her list was for everyone to sign up to the Anthony Nolan register.
