We can help you find blood stem cell and bone marrow donors, with our register of over 600,000 donors
Our Search team deals with requests from transplant centres. You can approach us to find a match for your patient, and we will look through our database and other registries worldwide to identify possible donors.
If you’re struggling to find a donor, our Register Development Team can appeal for new potential donors to come forward.
We can also organise the whole donation procedure, including:
- first contact and testing. Once we’ve found matches, our Donor Liaison team contacts the potential donors to arrange further tests. This narrows it down to the closest match.
- stem cell donation. Once we’ve identified the best match, our Account Delivery team makes all the arrangements. They make sure the donation of stem cells gets from the donor to the person who needs the transplant.
- courier service. We provide a volunteer courier service to transport stem cells from donors to patients.
- donor welfare. Our Account Delivery teams and Support teams take care of our donors throughout the donation process, visiting them while they’re in hospital and ensuring their post-donation follow up. They pass anonymous correspondence between donors and recipients and update donors on their recipient’s condition, where possible.
For those who want their tissue type identified but don’t wish join our register (or don’t meet the eligibility criteria) we offer a private tissue-typing service.
