Former Sheffield Hallam student Andrew Murphy, 25, is running the Virgin Money London Marathon in April for blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan in memory of his best friend, who died from leukaemia in 2011.
Anthony Nolan is celebrating achieving a one-star accreditation in the Sunday Times Best Companies annual ranking. The blood cancer charity has also climbed up 32 places in the ranking of the Sunday Times Best 100 Not-for-Profits to Work For and now stands at number 57.
Tommy Simpson is a 4-year old boy of white (British) and black (Caribbean) heritage who loves nothing more than playing with his toy airplanes and putting on his Dad’s uniform, pretending to be a firefighter. In January 2016 he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), after being admitted to hospital a few days before Christmas. He has been in hospital ever since.
