Your hard work makes it possible for us to manage the UK’s most successful stem cell register. So when we take on volunteers, we want to make your experience as fun and enjoyable as possible.
We commit to…
Commitment 1: Induction and training
We want you to feel confident when talking to potential donors. To do that we’ll give you an induction to teach you about our work, our staff, your new role and your responsibilities.
Commitment 2: Supervision, support and flexibility
We’ll teach you about the high standards we work to and help you achieve and maintain them.
We’ll support you by appointing a member of staff who will regularly get in touch to talk about your volunteering.
We’ll help you develop your new role with training and support.
Commitment 3: Reimbursement of travel expenses
We’ll reimburse your expenses, as agreed with the Regional Register Development Manager. These include:
This may include money spent on public transport, or a mileage allowance as agreed with your Regional Register Development Manager. Please keep all your receipts to give to us when we reimburse your expenses.
Commitment 4: Clothing and Health and safety
We will give you a special Anthony Nolan t-shirt to wear while volunteering with us. We’ll also ensure you are fully trained in our health and safety policies.
Commitment 5: Insurance
Your safety is our priority. Whenever you undertake volunteer work for us, we insure you.
Commitment 6: Equal opportunities
We’re proud of our equal opportunities policies and all volunteers are dealt with according to these.
Commitment 7: Dealing with problems
Feel free to talk to us about any difficulties you might experience while volunteering. We’ll deal with it swiftly and our Volunteer Manager or a member of the Register Development team will always be willing to listen to and discuss any issues.
