These are extraordinary times. But there is something just as extraordinary you can do to help.
Will you face your fitness goals with a sit-up challenge? Or make your friends laugh with a virtual danceathon?
Fundraising at home couldn’t be easier! We’ve put together some ideas to keep you and your family busy at home, while raising vital funds for Anthony Nolan:
What better time to brave the shave? Ask someone in your household to grab the clippers and live stream it. Or what about that beard you’ve always wanted to try?
Whether it’s running between the roses or pacing the garden path, how far can you run in your garden? Run a 5k or 10k within the confines of your outdoor space and get friends to sponsor you! Ask your family to form a dedicated cheer squad if you need one.
Recreate that pub feeling by bringing the quiz to your living room! Get in a round of (virtual) drinks and ask friends to pay to take part.
Challenge your friends to a bake-off. Each person pays a small fee to enter and whips up a cake at home. Share a photo of your creation, pick your judges and get them to award a prize for the best-looking cake. And the best bit is you don’t even need to share!
Use your extra time at home to learn a new skill. Why not start making cards, learn to knit scarves or start painting, and sell your creations to friends, family and followers!
A virtual book club is a great way to stay in touch with your friends while social distancing. Ask for a small donation to be a part of the club, select your book and set up a virtual meeting online.
There are plenty of free online classes at the moment, from HIIT to yoga. Challenge yourself to complete a class every day for 30 days and ask friends to sponsor you.
Pop on the popcorn and get settled in for the night with a video call with your friends. Ask friends to pay for a ticket and share your screen so you can enjoy the film together. Finally, we have time to watch Lord of the Rings from start to finish!
If you’re not sure where to start when it comes to video calls and virtual get-togethers, there are lots of easy to use platforms to use. Here are ones we’d recommend:
To get started, simply choose your challenge and set up a JustGiving page.
Lifesaving transplants can’t stop because of the current coronavirus pandemic. Without emergency financial support, stem cell donations could never make it to the patients who are counting on them to survive.
We now need to raise vital extra funds every month that the coronavirus pandemic goes on to fund our response. Which is why we’re asking you, our incredible supporters, to do what you do best, and get creative to raise money from your own home to help save more lives.
Every £100 you raise could help pay to keep our Emergency Handover Hub at Heathrow Airport open 24 hours a day. This means international couriers, who can’t go into hospitals due to quarantine rules, can handover stem cells to one of our UK volunteers for the final lifesaving leg.
Our teams are working around the clock to make this happen. Please raise whatever you can today to our Coronavirus Emergency Appeal to keep this vital work going.
