ITV’s Text Santa chose Anthony Nolan as a beneficiary charity in 2012 and raised a staggering £919,008
Anthony Nolan was thrilled to be chosen as one of the beneficiary charities of Text Santa 2012
. In total, the appeal raised a phenomenal £5,514,048 which was divided between Anthony Nolan and five other charities.
The funds raised will enable Anthony Nolan to recruit at least an additional 9,000 potential donors to the stem cell register – people who could be the last chance of life for a child or adult with blood cancer.
Being part of the Text Santa experience was also a fantastic opportunity to make millions of people across the UK aware of our lifesaving work and the importance of the donor register.
During the Text Santa week of 17-23 December 2012, we saw 2,848 people successfully apply to join the Anthony Nolan register
, a phenomenal increase of 849% on a normal week. These young people have been inspired by Text Santa to volunteer to potentially save the life of a stranger.
'Text Santa has been a lifesaver – quite literally. Anthony Nolan is the last hope for so many people with blood cancer. Thank you to everyone who has donated funds or joined our register, together we can cure blood cancer.'
Henny Braund, Chief Executive of Anthony Nolan
