Every 23 minutes in the UK someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer such as leukeamia. For many people with blood cancer, a transplant of healthy blood stem cells or bone marrow is their last chance of survival. But first they need to find a match.
The Anthony Nolan register is a list of volunteers who have signed up to be potential donors, hoping to be the match that could save someone’s life. However, for every person Anthony Nolan find a march for, there is another still desperately searching.
With the help of Hardeep Singh Kohli, we took to the streets of Birmingham and London, on a mission to get 3000 more people to join the Anthony Nolan register. Check out the links below to see exactly what we got up to in each city. There was dancing, there was football, there was even waking up students on a Sunday morning - anything to get people to join the mission.
This mission still stands.
Over 1600 blood cancer sufferers in the UK are still looking for the person that could save their life and the need for donors is becoming increasingly urgent. Help us spread the word and #jointhemission.
