We help save lives by matching donors to those who urgently need a transplant. So far we've saved thousands of people from leukaemia and other life-threatening blood diseases. With your help, we could save many more.
For every person we help there is another patient we can't find a match for. Here's how you can help us reach our goal of saving each and every life:
Join the Anthony Nolan Register
We now have over 400,000 people on our register, all willing to save the life of somebody they’ve never met. But because we can only match donors and patients by their tissue types (of which there are millions) finding a match is still difficult.
You could be that match. Joining our register is easy, just complete our
online application. If you're eligible you just have to give us a saliva sample and we’ll get in touch to let you know we’ve added you to our register.
Donating your umbilical cord
Following the safe birth of your baby, donating your umbilical cord could save another person's life. Blood in the cord is rich with stem cells that can be used in vital transplants. It's a great way to be part of our lifesaving work as usually the umbilical cord is thrown away as clinical waste afterwards. We've set up collection programmes in London’s King’s College Hospital, Leicester General Hospital and Leicester Royal Infirmary and have plans to open more in the next five years. Find out

Raise money
Run, swim, party, travel - whether you want to fundraise by yourself, as part of a team or with your company, when it comes to raising money to pay for our lifesaving work, we say anything goes! Click
here for more information.
Volunteer
We couldn't carry out our lifesaving work without our volunteers. We have plenty of opportunities including:
- Leading education projects with students
- Helping out at recruitment events
- Setting up university groups
- Couriering stem cels from the donors to patients
Set up a recruitment event
Expanding the register is a crucial part of providing matches for people who need transplants. One way of doing this is through recruitment drives. If you work for a large organisation, send us an email to
info@anthonynolan.org to set up an event. We can give you all the advice you need about promoting it and you’ll be helping us to save lives. Find out
more.
Help with publicity
From raising money to recruiting people to the register, a big part of our work is about creating awareness. The best way is publicising our work through the web, on TV and in newspapers and in magazines. If you are a journalist then get in touch with our
press office for case studies in your local area and the latest medical research.
