Anthony Nolan is launching its partnership with the 2014 Virgin Money London Marathon with a video showcasing the superb support on offer for runners who join Team Anthony Nolan.

Filmed in London’s Victoria Park on a Sunday morning, the video attempts to give ordinary joggers that authentic London Marathon experience. A team of staff and volunteers set up camp to surprise runners with all the trappings of a real race.

Joggers were treated to a cheer point and water station and joined by fancy dress runners who urged them onto the finish line. Their genuine reactions were captured for a unique launch video which shows viewers that our expert team will go that extra mile to help each and every runner over the start line and make sure they reach the finish.

The video already has the backing of Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, who says: ‘The spirit of the Virgin Money London Marathon is about thousands of people taking to the streets to complete the challenge of a lifetime and raise vital funds for so many causes. We are delighted to partner with Anthony Nolan in 2014, as the Official Charity of the 2014 Virgin Money London Marathon.

‘Anthony Nolan’s launch video gives a sense of the support which will help get its runners over that line. The ballot for 2014 opens on the 29th April and I’d encourage everyone to enter and see if 2014 could be the year they run 26.2 miles, and maybe also help cure blood cancer.’

Catherine Miles, Director of Fundraising at Anthony Nolan, said: ‘As the 2014 Virgin Money London Marathon official charity, we're looking for our biggest-ever running team. For the partnership launch, we wanted to demonstrate those special extras we give our runners to make their London Marathon experience truly unforgettable. So we headed to the local park to give Sunday joggers a surprise taste of the marathon experience. The result is a fun video which demonstrates the fantastic support which will help our 2014 team cure blood cancer, mile by mile.’

As the Official Charity partner for the iconic London race, Anthony Nolan is hoping to raise £1 million through the efforts of our runners in 2014: funds which will directly impact on patients’ lives.

Around 1,700 people in the UK are currently waiting for a lifesaving bone marrow transplant. But Anthony Nolan can only find a match for half of those in desperate need.

The charity needs to grow its register of potential lifesavers to make more matches and save more lives. The money Anthony Nolan hopes to raise from its Official Charity status will fund the recruitment of 10,000 new donors, specifically men aged 16–30 who are the most likely to become lifesavers.

The 2014 Virgin Money London Marathon will see Anthony Nolan field its largest ever team of runners. Ballot entry opens on the 29th April, so visit . If you miss out, the charity has guaranteed places available so please visit www.milebymile.org to apply and to find out more about how you could help cure blood cancer.
