Our Vision

For the past 35 years, we’ve been the best chance for thousands of people who’ve urgently needed stem cell transplants. We’re good at what we do, but we know that for every person we help, there is another who misses that chance. Our mission has always been to save lives so we’re going to do better. For some people, it really does mean the difference between life and death.

We’ve got a long history of innovation. We created the world’s first register of people willing to donate their stem cells and now we have the UK’s first dedicated cord blood bank. Our research institute is one of the leading in the world. We constantly seek ways to improve the success of stem cell transplants using cutting edge technology.

Every one of Anthony Nolan’s staff channels our forward-thinking vision. From raising funds to running the register, creating awareness to scientific advances, our goal is to save each and every life. Here’s what we’re trying to do in the next five years:

- Grow the register to include 1 million potential donors
- Meet 80% of transplant requests
- Bank 15,000 umbilical cord blood units

If we can achieve those three main aims, we’ll be able to save twice as many lives. You can read more about our aims in our 2010-2014 strategy

To deliver this we’re relying on the expertise and dedication of our staff. For this reason, we also want to be one of the top places to work in the UK by 2014. None of our work would be possible without our staff and volunteers – they are the heart of our organisation. Like them, you can be part of our vision. Together, we can reach our goals.
