Volunteering for Register & Be a Lifesaver
Could you inspire a young person to be a lifesaver?
The Register and Be a Lifesaver (R&B) team is looking for volunteers to help raise awareness of the importance of donation.
What is it all about?
The R&B project is the legacy of the late Adrian Sudbury who campaigned to have 17-18 year olds educated about stem cell, blood and organ donation. He wanted to dispel the myths that stop many people coming forward to donate.
What would I be doing?
Your main role would be delivering talks to 17-18 year olds on stem cell, blood and organ donation at 6th Forms, colleges or clubs. You can 'buddy up' with an experienced presenter and you will also have a mentor to help you take your first steps. Talks are usually 30 minutes to 1 hour long and can be delivered as part of a class lesson or an assembly. Schools provide the necessary computer equipment and supervision.
Do I need any special qualifications?
No. You’ll be given full training, after which you decide whether you want to join the team. We’ll give you a full toolkit of information, leaflets, and a memory stick containing a power point presentation that you can tailor to suit your style.
How do I sign up?
The R&B project will continue to go from strength to strength if we have people like you on board to help us save lives. We’re currently looking for volunteers in Yorkshire, Merseyside, Bristol, the Midlands and Greater London. To find out more, email Luke Williams.
