Round Table
Round Table is an organisation for men that has around 8000 members in 600 clubs across the UK. ‘Tablers’ as they are known, have been helping Anthony Nolan save lives since the 1970s. Some of their major achievements include:
Recruiting the first donors
In 1974 when Shirley Nolan, Anthony’s mum, established the Anthony Nolan register she went to the Thanet Round Tablers to help her recruit the first donors. It was to mark the beginning of a long relationship that has helped save thousands of lives.
Putting Anthony Nolan on the international map
For over thirty years Tablers across the country have worked tirelessly to recruit new donors. In 1986 a massive 100,000 people joined the register during a six week recruitment campaign by Round Table groups across the country. The campaign was led by the then President of the Hemel Hempstead Table, Simon Dyson, who is now Anthony Nolan’s Chairman. It doubled the number of people on the register and put Anthony Nolan on the international map.
Raising millions
Rarely a weekend passes without a member of the Round Table taking on a challenge to raise money for Anthony Nolan. For 2009-2010, National President Dave Barker chose Anthony Nolan as Round Table's official charity.
Today the Round Table continues to recruit people to our register and to support our lifesaving work by raising vital funds.
