Three year old Ryan from East Kilbride, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) and desperately needed to find a matching bone marrow donor for a stem cell transplant to save his life.
A recruitment event for Ryan's appeal, held in East Kilbride in October 2011, broke the previous, with 1,074 people coming forward to join the Anthony Nolan stem cell register in one day.
Stuart Ferguson, Ryan’s father, said: “Instead of sitting by a hospital bed and just watching Ryan trying to fight this, I’d rather put the word out there that donating isn’t a big deal. People don’t know how simple this is and how important it is. This is about raising awareness of how easy it is to join the Anthony Nolan register – and how important it is.”
The appeal is on-going, so please join the register today. If you would like to make a donation to support Ryan’s appeal in aid of Anthony Nolan please visit www.justgiving.com/RyanFerguson or text RYAN70 then a pound sign and the amount you wish to donate to 70070.
